Ex-International Cricketer, Paul Nixon is a former England and Leicestershire wicket-keeper batsman who retired from professional cricket in 2011, finishing on a high after claiming the T20 competition that year. Paul’s extensive and diverse sporting career has led him to be a pre-eminent cricket speaker for after dinner events. The left-handed batsman, who also had a spell with Kent during his career, retired from International Cricket across all formats in 2007. Prior to his international retirement, he represented England at the 2007 Twenty20 match against Australia, scoring 31 not out and again against Australia in the One Day International, three days later. Despite his decision to no longer compete for England, Nixon made waves in domestic cricket.
He was dominant and helped Leicestershire CCC to Championship titles in 1996 and 1998. His energetic play style assisted in Leicester scooping the Twenty20 Cup Twice. As an integral part of the team and their success, Nixon was named Captain in 2007, in recognition of his talents on the field and his ability to lead a team. Continually performing on the domestic stage has established Nixon as a top cricketer despite his lack of international exposure, something which isn’t achieved easily. A wonderful sports speaker, Paul has experienced the sport at an elite level and has an extensive knowledge of how to achieve goals, realise ambitions and consistently perform to a world-class level. Since retirement from the sport in 2011, Nixon has pursued other ventures close to his heart and is an ambassador for a special educational needs school; the Dorothy Goodman School.
Also providing opportunities for the next generation of aspiring cricketers, Nixon offers one to one and group coaching, covering a range of specialist skills. Nixon has also turned his attention to after dinner speaking, being sought after as a popular cricket speaker. His smooth and approachable nature has made him a favourite within the industry; a coherent cricket speaker who has had fought a constant battle throughout his career to receive the International recognition he deserves, Nixon has always been the player on the edge of the circle and of selection. Through thoughtful and entertaining speeches, Nixon will delight a crowd and provide the additional charm an event requires.
