Omar Allibhoy

Spanish celebrity chef Omar Allibhoy is no stranger to a fast paced industry. With a history working in a demanding professional environment, Omar is familiar with the pressures that such environments bring and is an expert with how to manage performance.

Omar began his cookery career working in several restaurants near where he lived. After a while working in small restaurants Omar got his big break, being selected for a position at elBulli. ElBulli is a three Michelin star restaurant in Catalonia, Spain. Later in 2008, Omar joined the culinary team at Gordon Ramsay’s Maze restaurant.

Omar came to England after living in Spain for the majority of his life. Omar came to England to try and learn English so that he could also learn to cook other cuisines. After leaving Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant, he started his own restaurant called El Pirata Detapas in Mayfair, London.

Omar is also the founder of Tapas Revolution restaurant group, which he set up to try and promote Spanish food more in Britain. He felt that there wasn’t enough representation for the cuisine in England and that this needed to change.

Whilst Omar was setting up Tapas Revolution he remained working for El Pirata Detapas where he worked as an executive chef. The first location of Tapas Revolution that Omar opened was at Westfield shopping centre in Sheperd’s Bush, London. His restaurant was a success and in 2015 Omar had three locations, with the hopes of opening two more locations at a later date. With his rising success, Omar released his own cookbook called Tapas Revolution. This was part of his passion to try and make Spanish food more popular within Britain.

Omar also devotes some of his spare time to raising money for charity. He took part in the Rumble in the Kitchen charity boxing match, fighting Stefan Chomka. Omar won the battle, with his efforts contributing towards a massive £55k that was raised for charity. Omar’s commitment and passion for food were awarded at the British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame event in 2015. He was given the title of Young Entrepreneur inductee for his work with the Tapas Revolution group.
