Mushtaq Mohammad

One of the most successful Pakistan all-rounders, Mushtaq is the right-handed batsman and leg spinner who played fifty seven Test and ten ODI's from 1959 to 1979. Mushtaq's family was very talented within cricket, with four out of five brothers that played. However Mushtaq is the only Pakistani to ever score a century and take five wickets in the same test match twice. Recently coaching the United States national cricket team, Mushtaq now spends his time as a cricket speaker and commentating for Pakistani Television.

Mushaq started his first class career at the young age of thirteen and on his debut he scored an impressive eighty seven, taking five for twenty eight. Before representing Northamptonshire in county cricket from 1966 to 1977 he played for Karachi and Pakistan international airlines. Mushtaq was a top level player scoring more than 1,000 runs in every season. Between 1975 and 1977 Mushtaq captained Northamptonshire leading them to victory in the Gillette Cup which became the county's first ever trophy. He also helped the side achieve its best ever position in the County Championshipsfinishing in second place.

As a wrist-spinner Mushtaq bowled the leg break, googly and flipper and his 502-game first class career saw him score 72 hundreds. He became the first Pakistan to score 25,000 first class runs and ended up with 31,091 which more than half were for Northampton, his record included a staggering 303 not out. By 1999 he was no longer on the field yet still continuing with his passion for cricket by sharing his extensive knowledge as the coach of pakistan. With his guidance he led the side to the final of the 1999 World Cup.

After a breath-taking career, Mushtaq has quite rightly earned the title of a cricketing legend, with an array of record breaking performances and unbelievable accomplishments. Mushtaq has a range of anecdotes to share having played domestically, internationally and in the infamous World Series Cricket and males an excellent addition to any memorable event.
