Musa Motha has inspired all with his talents as a professional amputee dancer, having recently shot to fame after he reached the Grand Final of Britain’s Got Talent. Having survived his battle with Osteosarcoma bone cancer, Musa unfortunately lost his leg, and was forced to overcome considerable adversity at a young age. Today, Musa has adapted to his personal circumstances and uses them to motivate others around him to overcome adversity. Now hired as a leading dance act, Musa is also hired to share his inspirational story as a motivational speaker. Hire him today to inspire audiences from all walks of life.
Diagnosed with cancer at 11, Musa’s life changed forevermore when his cancer led to his leg being amputated. Having initially had big dreams of becoming a professional footballer, Musa returned to playing football on crutches, before finding his passion for dance as a street dancer in 2010. Since then, Musa has started his professional dancing career, training at Vuyani Dance Theatre in Johannesburg. Learning the art of contemporary, afro-fusion, tap and ballet, Musa was soon touring internationally, inspiring audiences with his drive to continue with his dreams despite the adversity he faced. Most recently, in 2023, Musa competed on Britain’s Got Talent, where he famously received the first group BGT Golden Buzzer.
Receiving a standing ovation at his BGT audition, Musa went on to win his semi-final, before reaching the final. Winning the hearts of the British public, Musa finished in fifth place in the final, winning 10.9% of the public vote. Aside from his success on BGT, Musa has also rubbed shoulders with the stars, having starred in Drake’s music video for One Dance. Today, Musa is a professional dancer for Rambert, a contemporary company based in London, and has most recently claimed the Emerging Artist Award at the 2023 National Dance Awards. He also appeared on the May 2023 cover of Vogue, for their ‘Nothing is More Fashionable Than Inclusivity’ Disability Portfolio. When he is not found dancing, Musa can also be found performing as a DJ, video editing, taking photographs and runway modelling.
With such an inspiring story to tell, Musa is now highly sought after as a motivational speaker in addition to his evident talent as a dancer. When hired as a motivational speaker, Musa shares his thoughts on how his ‘disability brought out the positive’ in himself, and his passion for seeing ‘more companies being inclusive’. Championing diversity and inclusion, Musa is also on a mission to see more disabled dancers on mainstream stages. When looking for a motivational speaker with a truly inspiring story to tell, don’t hesitate to hire professional amputee dancer Musa Motha today.
