Mike Gunn is a comedian with a difference. From a troubled young adult with little to laugh about to an internationally renowned comedian performing with the likes of Michael McIntyre, Mike has found the humour in his past. Relatable, personable and, of course hilarious, Mike intertwines dark humour with quirky characters and unlikely situations to create a totally original performance that has audiences laughing out loud. At events, the talented comic, presenter and actor is guaranteed to be the highlight of your occasion.
In his element at live gigs, Mike’s shows have seen him tour the globe and receive rave reviews. From his debut Edinburgh Fringe show ‘Good Grief’ in 2002, Mike has gone on to support huge names including Jo Brand and Lee Mack, complete a thirty five date sell out UK tour, and headline all major stand up venues in the UK. With shows as far flung as Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia, and a five week sell out stint at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Mike’s talent is evidently in demand across time zones and borders, a sign of a truly exceptional comic.
Comedy was not the obvious route for Mike, who began a diploma in business studies before struggling with a drug addition. Plagued by the addiction, Mike left education, and battled through a series of unfortunate jobs. However, determined to face his affiliations face on, Mike embarked on a rehab programme, and through his journey to recovery found stand up as an outlet for his inner thoughts through laughter. Making his debut performance in 1995, Mike’s former life inspired his Edinburgh Fringe comedy show ‘Uncut’ which was so successful it was used as an educational tool in treatment centres, prisons and schools across the UK for years.
As one of the best loved alternative comics, Mike is now a regular face of the small screen, starring in a number of major comedy series as an actor and stand up. In addition to appearing on The Comedy Store, The World Stand Up and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Mike has also featured in nine episodes of Time Gentlemen Please, proving his versatility as a performer. With a compelling past and hugely successful present, Mike is often featured as a writer for the likes of The Guardian, Time Out and The List. For a comic with depth, originality and flair look no further than Mike Gunn for all of your event entertainment requirements.
