Maureen Zappala is a leading impostor syndrome expert – who is training leaders around the world on how they extract the best from their employees. As a Licensed Associate & Coach at the Impostor Syndrome Institute, Maureen provides vital information, insight and tools to organisations and individuals about impostor syndrome and how it can be overcome. A seasoned keynote speaker, Maureen is available to hire for a wide range of events related to mental health and resilience.
Maureen obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and joined the NASA Glenn Research Centre as a Facility Manager. Managing the role for 13 years, Maureen initiated, planned and conducted research tests in the facility, serving as NASA’s point of contact to industry partners in the jet propulsion community. While it was her lifelong dream to work at NASA, Maureen experienced an acute feeling of “not belonging at NASA” because she feared she was not smart or qualified enough to be there. Many years later, Maureen identified that this was her experience with impostor syndrome – a debilitating voice in one’s head that stifles their creativity and stifles courage.
Having to give herself a pep talk to get rid of her own impostor syndrome, Maureen realised that so many other people could benefit from this. Therefore, she was led down the path of becoming a motivational keynote speaker. She received her certification as Licensed Presenter & Associate from the Impostor Syndrome Institute in 2021, and today works with organisations and teams to increase their morale, engagement and ultimately, productivity. A prolific author, Maureen has written titles such as “Great Speakers Are Not Born. They’re Built” and “Buckeye Reflections”.
Maureen’s most recent book “Pushing the Envelope” is an insight into how people can defeat self-doubt and live with bold enthusiasm – lessons that countless people can use to elevate their lives. Maureen’s work is instrumental in helping leaders uncover their team’s untapped potential. Her keynote speeches revolve around topics such as overcoming self-doubt, how to master public speaking and understanding impostor syndrome in the workplace. Maureen Zappala is one of the best speakers to hire if you want to address the underlying symptoms of impostor syndrome within your employees. If you are looking for a speaker who is excellent at motivating people to find their true potential, Maureen Zappala is the right choice for you. Hire her today!
