Mark Lomas is a senior people and culture executive who is currently the Head of Culture, Talent and Communities at Lloyd’s of London. Having led multiple award-winning talent, performance, succession and leadership development frameworks across a range of sectors, from finance and infrastructure to media and the public sector, Mark is now looking to share his experiences and knowledge with audiences of all kinds.
Beginning his career at Shaw Trust as a National Equality and Diversity Manager, Mark led DEI strategy and improved the outcomes for marginalised groups through the New Deal for Disabled People programme. In 2010, Mark served as Managing Consultant/Director of Muchwork Ltd, having founded the consultancy to deliver high-quality leadership development, organisational change, and DEI initiatives across numerous sectors. During his time there, he also took on the role of Equality & Diversity Manager at The Law Society, where he worked on the application of the Diversity and Inclusion Charter. Mark moved to the BBC in 2012 as a Diversity Manager, leading various initiatives and programmes and was selected for the Director-General’s BBC/CLORE Exclusive Leadership Programme. Following this, Mark became the Head of Diversity and Inclusion and HR Operations for HS2, taking them and the company he would go on to work for to Clear Assured Platinum Accreditation – a rare achievement only reached by a select few organisations globally. After taking on HS2’s Organisational Design Programme Manager role, Mark joined Lloyd’s of London as the Head of Culture, Talent and Communities. Since 2021, he has designed Lloyd’s Talent, Succession, Performance and Leadership Development frameworks, delivered the company’s Culture Strategy 2022-27, and created a partnership with Johns Hopkins University to explore and address Lloyd’s historic links to the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Alongside his work with Lloyd’s, Mark also served as a Non-Executive Director, focusing on people, culture and diversity for NHS Property Services, chairing the people and culture committee.
As a result of his incredible work, Mark has been recognised with a number of awards. Including the ENEI Inclusive Procurement Initiative Award, the Head of Diversity of the Year from the Inclusive Companies Annual Awards, the VERCIDA Inclusive Initiative of the Year Award, the iCAN Role Model Award, the Race Equality Matters Change Maker Award, and the HR Brilliance Award.
