
Mariano Sigman is a renowned neuroscientist, global TED speaker, and author of numerous scientific papers and two non-fiction books. Mariano is known for his groundbreaking work in examining the human brain and has led numerous integrative projects, exploring the intricacies and reasons behind human decision-making, learning, and creativity. Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Buenos Aires, he achieved a PhD in Neuroscience at Rockefeller University. Mariano then completed Postdoctoral Studies in Cognitive Sciences at the College of France. His accomplished academic career enabled him to hold many high-profile positions, such as Director of the Integrative Neuroscience Laboratory at the University of Buenos Aires and Director of the Neuroscience Laboratory at Torcuato Di Tella University. Mariano spent time as a Visiting Professor at Carlos III University of Madrid, co-founding Sigmind, a service that uses AI and technology to support mental health diagnoses, during the same period. He is also the only Latin American scientist to have been a Director of the Human Brain Project.
He holds various accolades, including the Human Frontiers Career Development Award, the National Prize of Physics in Argentina, the Young Investigator Prize of the College of France, and the IBM Scalable Data Analytics Award. He was awarded the Pio XI Medal and made a Laureate of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in 2016.
