Back in 1981, Manley began his career working as a Lieutenant in The Royal Navy – serving two spells as a Weapons Engineer Officer and in the Royal Hong Kong Marine Police. Developing his skills in teamwork, leadership and performing under pressure, Manley now puts the lessons he learnt in the forces into his work as a consultant on compassionate leadership. In 2012, Manley became the Founder of the Compassionate Leadership Academy, with whom he continues his work today coaching executives on all there is to know about leadership and team development. After leaving The Royal Navy, Manley began a career working as the Director of Organisation People & Partners for Atlas Consortium, before moving on to become the Director of People & Partners for Hewlett Packard Defence & Security.
Currently working as the Director of People & Performance for Sweet Projects, Manley has also worked as an Associate for HPO Center, a Senior Advisor for McKinsey & Company, an Associate of Mission Performance Limited and in People & Performance for Ark Data Centres. Outside of his business career, Manley also committed time to adventure and sports. In 2000 he competed as a race skipper in the BT Global Challenge, a life-changing 9-month-long voyage around the world. He was also part of the winning team in The Polar Race of 2003, racing 360 miles to the magnetic North Pole in just 10 days and 9 hours. Such experiences help to inform Manley’s expertise in leadership and teamwork, which he focuses on as a renowned consultant on compassionate leadership for top corporate clients.
