Maisie Adam is fairly new to the field of comedy, only joining the circuit in 2016. However, she has not let that stop her, with her unique self-deprecating humour winning her the praise of her audiences time and time again. Initially Maisie planned to follow a career of acting and writing, however, she instead decided to follow comedy. Maisie previewed her first show at the Ilkley Fringe, called Living On The Edge. Since then her career has grown, performing at various well-known events. In 2017 she was nominated for Best New Comedy at the Brighton Fringe. A year later she was nominated for the Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe, and on the 24th of August, she won the award. Maisie is the fourth woman to have ever won the award within the 30-year history, making her quite the celebrity.
Aside from her award-winning comedy act Maisie has featured in a number of TV shows. She appeared in the biographical British comedy-drama series called Urban Myths. Urban Myths bases every episode around a popular culture story, that can be both true or not. Additionally, she has featured in the comedy panel shows 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Mock The Week. The Stand Up Sketch Show is another feature that she adds to her repertoire.
Maisie has been described as both confident and charismatic when she performs, with a great ability to create some truly memorable comical moments. Her confidence has lead to her appearing on The Stephen K Amos Show, another show centred on the theme of comedy. Maisie has been a guest on Radio 2 and Sky Arts also. At the age of 14, Maisie was diagnosed with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, however she has not let that stop her love for all things comedy. At first Maisie found it really difficult to discuss her epilepsy, however now she is comfortable even speaking about it on stage in her comedy acts. She hopes to make epilepsy a more approachable and accessible topic to talk about through her introducing it into her act and freely speaking about it.
