Maarten Verscheure, also known as The AI Navigator, assists organisations in successfully adopting AI without sacrificing trust, people, or control through his proven frameworks and practical strategies. From a Fortune 500 AI builder and former founder to current researcher and lecturer, Maarten has over 15 years of experience at the intersection of artificial intelligence and business that he is now looking to share with a wide range of audiences.
Beginning his career at Dunhumby as an analytical consultant, Maarten moved through various high-profile companies such as Royal Mail and Catalina Marketing. At the latter, Maarten climbed the ranks from SAS Automation Manager to Product and Innovation Manager. Maarten then became a freelance data scientist at Colruyt Group, where he oversaw data-driven innovation within the customer analytics team. In 2016, he founded Clever, initially a business data science consultancy company, but after shifting to a conversational AI focus, the company was acquired by Zoovu in 2019, leading Maarten to serve as the company’s Managing Director. Following his exit, he held the role of Senior Principal Consultant at AE before becoming Technology Lead at Nexxworks. Since 2025, he has served as an AI Researcher at VIVES University of Applied Science, where he leads AWARE, a project using AI to strengthen the human firewall in cybersecurity.
Alongside his professional career, Maarten is the author of ‘AI Will Replace You’, a deep dive into how organisations must embrace the technology and use it as a lever for growth. He has also featured on various AI-centred podcasts, such as Virtual, sharing his expertise and perspectives on how AI is reshaping our world every day.
