Lewis has had a long and successful career working for the British government. He spent a seven year tenure at HM Treasury where he was the Deputy Director of Transport and Infrastructure before taking on the role of Deputy Director of Defence, Diplomacy and Intelligence. He went on to hold a number of senior roles in Government including National Security Director at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Director at the Cabinet Office. Lewis was also the Director of Strategy in the Cabinet Office’s COVID-19 Taskforce and led work towards the Government’s “Living with COVID-19 Strategy”.
Lewis is now HM Trade Commissioner for China and Hong Kong, where he works closely with His Majesty’s Ambassador in Beijing. As one of only nine Trade Commissions appointed by the UK government to promote UK trade, Lewis bridges the gap between the UK and China, and is dedicated to securing investment in sectors such as low carbon and financial services and making the UK the education system of choice for China and Hong Kong.
