Laura Whitmore is a renowned media personality, ITV broadcaster, actress, and documentary maker, celebrated for her dynamic career across television, radio, and stage. Originally from Dublin, Laura graduated with a degree in Journalism from Dublin City University, where her passion for storytelling first took root. She burst onto the scene in 2008 after winning MTV’s Pick Me MTV competition, triumphing over 3,000 applicants to become the new face of MTV News. Laura went on to host shows for MTV across Ireland, the UK and Europe, covering red carpet events, music festivals, and exclusive celebrity interviews. This early success cemented her reputation as a charismatic and versatile presenter, paving the way for a career that has spanned more than a decade.
Throughout her career, Laura has fronted some of British television’s most popular shows. She hosted the ITV2 spin-off I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! NOW! for five series, offering viewers exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes gossip. In 2020, Laura became the host of ITV2’s hit reality show Love Island, where she guided audiences through two hugely successful series of the nation’s favourite dating show, as well as its companion show Love Island: Aftersun. Beyond reality TV, Laura has presented The Brits Are Coming, provided backstage coverage at the BAFTA Awards, and was a commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals on BBC Three. Her passion for live broadcasting, coupled with her natural warmth, has made her one of the UK’s most in-demand hosts.
In addition to her on-screen success, Laura has made a name for herself in radio and publishing. She hosted a weekly Sunday morning show on BBC Radio 5 Live from 2018 to 2022 and currently co-hosts the BBC Radio true crime podcast Murder They Wrote with Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling. In 2021, Laura published her debut book 'No One Can Change Your Life Except For You', which quickly became a Sunday Times Bestseller. She has also written powerfully on social issues, contributing viral pieces on Upskirting, the #MeToo movement, and women’s rights. Laura’s passion for storytelling extended to her acclaimed ITVX documentary series Laura Whitmore Investigates, which explores social issues and their wider impact.
On stage, Laura has appeared in the West End production of 2:22 A Ghost Story and will star in the upcoming feature film A Mother for an Hour, set for release in 2024.
