Kuan-wen Huang

Kuan-wen Huang is an up-and-coming Taiwanese comedian who is fast gaining recognition for his performances within the UK. Having been described as having an effervescent personality on stage, Kuan-wen will leave the whole audience crying with laughter as he uses his diverse background as the son of an elitist tiger mum and a lieutenant discharged from the Taiwanese army.

By day, an extremely intelligent man, Kuan-wen is a chartered tax accountant and just happened to stumble upon stand-up comedy in 2015 whilst on a career break in Berlin. Upon relocating back to London in 2016, Kuan-wen followed his passion and began his comedy career. His natural talent was recognised very early on in his career and in 2019, just three years after his career in comedy began, he was a Hackney Empire New Acts of the Year Finalist and a semi-finalist of the prestigious Amused Moose Award.

During his stand-up shows, Kuan-wen embraces his status as a non-native Briton – he couples his observations as a baffled immigrant with his bubbly gay persona to create shows which have his audiences crying with laughter, poking fun at everyone and everything. He has now worked his way up onto the biggest stages and has performed at events including Comedy Central at the Edinburgh Fringe, Comedy Central Live, Brighton Fringe, Comedy with an Accent, Vlad and Kuan-wen: The Wee Aliens, Vault Festival, Glasgow International Comedy Festival and Bath Comedy Festival to name a few.

Oozing with natural talent and clearly a comedy genius, there is no doubt Kuan-wen will be a household name within the coming years with his impressive list of appearances. In 2023 he was nominated for the Leicester Comedy Festival Best Show and has also featured at numerous pride events.
