Dr. Kenny Imafidon MBE’s journey is one of absolute triumph from tragedy. Imprisoned at the age of 17 for a crime he did not commit, Kenny was sentenced to a life in jail that would have exceeded the number of years he had lived so far. Rightfully released after 6 months in jail, on account of no case against him, Kenny has transformed his life to one with purpose and fulfilment. Detailing his incredible story as bestselling author of “That Peckham Boy: Growing Up, Getting Out and Giving Back”, Kenny is also available to hire as a keynote speaker for a myriad of events. Hearing him is bound to affirm to people that you can create a life you want, regardless of the hardship you feel.
Since being released from prison in 2013, Kenny has achieved accomplishments that he once believed would never have been in the cards for him. Having received a scholarship from the Amos Bursary to complete his LLB degree from the BPP Law School, Kenny is now the Co-Founder of ClearView Research – an audience insight and strategy agency for businesses. Dedicated to giving back to society and helping people who were in similar positions to himself, Kenny co-founded My Brother’s Keeper along with Lord Michael Hastings CBE. Together, they have created a voluntary initiative that offers support to men across six UK prisons who are serving long-term sentences.
Additionally, Kenny is a Trustee of Spark Inside that delivers coaching programmes in prisons across London, Founding Member of the Advisory Board for The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust and Chair of the Board of Trustees at City Gateway. Since 2018, he has been a Trustee of BBC Children in Need. The initiative ensures that children in the UK are given safe, secure, happy childhoods that allow them equal chances of living a fulfilling life. As Co-Founder of the OnBoard Programme, Kenny supports those who belong to underrepresented communities through training, mentoring and other methods so that their competence and confidence is boosted. In recognition of the impact he has had in society, Kenny was featured in the 2022 Forbes 30 Under 30 list – an incredible feat.
Appointed MBE in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours List, Kenny’s contributions to society have been widely appreciated. He also received an Honorary Doctorate from Greenwich University and has been recognised in UK Black Business Show’s Top 25 Black Entrepreneurs to Watch List.
