Singer-songwriter, Keith Duffy is best known as a member of the Irish boy band, Boyzone. Alongside Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch and Stephen Gately, Keith took the world by storm as one of the most prominent singing groups in the UK. Also known for his appearances in Coronation Street and Fair City as well as presenting The Box and You’re a Star, Duffy is one of the most instantly recognisable stars on our roster.
Whether he is taking control of the event as a host or delivering an after-dinner speech, Keith’s charisma fills the room and leaves a lasting impression on any audience he addresses. Having discovered his musical talents from the age of 16, Keith was a part of bands Toledo Moon and This Burning Effigy. After previously being unsuccessful in securing an audition, Keith was headhunted by X-Factor judge and Boyzone manager, Louis Walsh whilst in Dublin’s POD Nightclub.
After becoming successful in the audition process, the band went onto sell over 13 million records in only seven years with each of their sixteen singles reaching the top five of the UK Singles Chart. The group disbanded with the aim of venturing into successful solo careers in 2000. Duffy remained in the public eye however as he made an appearance on the first series of Celebrity Big Brother only a year after the band’s split. He also leapt into a brief stage career and starred in Dandelions and The Wizard of Oz at some of the UK’s most prized theatres. Eight long years without Boyzone came to a close in 2008 when the boys reunited for their Back Again… No Matter What tour.
Joining the cast of Irish soap opera, Fair City in 2008, Keith increasingly gained popularity as a TV personality and began presenting The Box and making appearances on high-profile programmes including Mrs Brown. In 2010, he bought his Irish charm to the cobbled streets of Coronation Street by playing Ciaran McCarthy. As a keen philanthropist, a lot of Keith’s media work has been dedicated to raising money for Ambitious about Autism.
He has won money on game shows such as The Door and All-Star Family Fortunes as well as launching campaigns to help spread awareness surrounding the disorder. A cherished member of the music industry, Keith Duffy is also a highly popular choice as an after-dinner speaker. His hilarious anecdotes from touring with Boyzone, insights into the acting career and bubbly personality has won over audiences all over the UK. He offers light-hearted entertainment as a speaker and a reliable yet hilarious contribution to events as a host.
