John Beresford

John Beresford MBE is a former professional footballer who is now a sports TV Pundit.  He is renowned for his successful football career in both the senior teams and the England national B team. After building a professional career of 19 years, John is now looking to speak about how he was able to gain success in a highly competitive industry and what allowed him to stand out when being scouted for multiple different football teams.

John started his professional career signing for Manchester City in 1983. As he progressed through multiple different senior teams, he was scouted for the England B team in 1994, where he secured two caps. He finished his career playing for Southampton and being on loan for Birmingham City where he made 18 appearances in total for the clubs. John has gained great amounts of experience throughout his career and has been a key part of many successful teams within his 19 years of playing professional football.

Due to his influential reputation within the football community, John has worked closely with the ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ anti-racism education charity to spread awareness of the issues people face throughout the industry. In 2017, he was awarded an MBE for his 20-year service to the charity to recognise the hard work and dedication he has offered. Since retiring, John has appeared on several popular sports channels, including Sky Sports, Channel 5, and Fox Sports News.
