Jodi-Ann Burey is passionate about achieving social change, currently the creator and host of the Black Cancer podcast. A survivor of cancer herself, Jodi-Ann shares the experiences of Black people with cancer, whilst highlighting the personal and systematic factors at play within the healthcare system that discriminate against individuals. Having achieved a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan, Jodi-Ann is passionate about creating racial equality in the healthcare system. Disrupting society’s norms one step at a time, Jodi-Ann brings to light the disadvantages that Black women often face in their treatment and care. She created the Black Cancer podcast to encourage support and awareness for Black people with cancer, providing them with a platform to share their experiences of the horrific illness. She has also contributed her expertise to countless articles, including contributions to What Black Women’s Equal Pay Means to Me, Stop Telling Women They Have Imposter Syndrome and Three Ways Structural Racism Could Be Hurting You At Work.
Writing on the intersections of culture, race and health equity, Jodi-Ann is highly influential and breaks boundaries with her inspirational work. Drawing on her education, expertise in entrepreneurship and global health and her own personal experiences, Jodi-Ann ensures that communities of colours are at the centre of her agenda. Previously, Jodi-Ann has been invited to deliver the TEDx talk The Myth Of Bringing Your Authentic Self To Work and contributed to countless Harvard Business Review articles that have placed her in the Top 100 Most Viewed Articles in HBR History.
