Jez Allinson is an inspirational and one-of-a-kind public figure, also known as ‘The Running Stormtrooper’. Jez initially created his Star Wars alter-ego for the 2016 London Marathon, however due to the incredible public reaction his challenges and adventures grew in ambition and accomplishment. Over the years, Jez’s achievements have been noted and brought to light by the BBC, ITV, Pride of Britain Awards and numerous other media channels including Lad Bible and starwars.com . With all these years of running long distances in full stormtrooper armour Jez has so many interesting stories and experiences to share, making him an engaging and fascinating keynote speaker.
Prior to starting his fundraising project, Jez joined the Royal Air Force as non-commissioned Helicopter Aircrew and would later become a Qualified Helicopter Crewman Instructor. Fast forward to later in his career and Jez commissioned as an Officer and is a veteran of numerous tours of duty. Having had a varied and busy career, Jez’s one constant has been his passion for raising money and testing his own physical and mental resilience.
Over the last 7 years, Jez has raised over £82,000 for the charities Make-a-Wish and Spread a Smile, running numerous marathons and ultra runs in the UK, USA, and Afghanistan all in his stormtrooper armour. In 2017, Jez gained a Guinness World Record for ‘Fastest Marathon as a Star Wars Character - male’ and in 2020 he ran a total of 1000 miles in his armour. He has also made guest appearances at London Film & Comic Con and 2 Star Wars Celebrations. Jez has now run his last race as the Stormtrooper but the connections and influence along the way have enabled him to become an official pacer at marathons and a blind runners guide.
As a speaker, Jez has created a highly engaging presentation aiming to motivate anyone who might see it. Jez has packed this presentation full of the highs and lows of his challenges, along with many of his countless stories and experiences. He also includes his 5 tenets of success, which he believes helped him forge numerous collaborations with organisations and brands. "A hugely enjoyable and engaging presentation. I had little knowledge of Jez or his accomplishments prior to attending and was fascinated as his story unfolded. The effort involved not only in the physical activity, but also the background work promoting and fundraising is boggling; a truly inspiring story of how one person’s decision to make a difference can grow and become something so much more. Engaging as an adult, but also perfect for younger audiences as a lesson in resilience, motivation, and most importantly, fun." - Cheryl, Civil Servant
"Jez provides a real insight with this excellent presentation into his impressive work as The Running Stormtrooper and the physical and mental demands of running on this scale. Thoroughly entertaining throughout there are laughs and tears as we hear the fascinating story covering the evolution of his running and the huge efforts required to enable his accomplishments. Not only is organising and promoting the fundraising incredibly impressive, it is all selflessly done for the benefit of others with a smile and with a fun spirit. Jez’s motivation and enthusiasm shone through and it is a testament to what can be achieved when someone decides to make a difference and as a result creates, and becomes, something special." - Alex, STEP Project Manager, Military Aviation Authority C1/SEO
Feedback from a Virtual Observer:
"Just a quick note to say thanks very much for your time today and delivering your talk. I’m based in London otherwise would have joined in person. I was completely hooked, as I’m sure everyone else was. Throughout your talk, there was something bigger and bigger you would achieve and I thought, what will happen next?! I’m so pleased the team were able to help make this SNAK session a reality. I know it’s been an idea since the conference thanks to early conversations with Nic in the team. Looking forward to hearing part 2 of your journey." - Jennifer, Communications Team Lead
