Jason Roy

Currently ranked tenth in ODI batting, Jason Roy is a highly skilled English international cricketer. As a key component to the England squad that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Jason has established himself as a highly credited sportsman and is now becoming increasingly more in demand as an after-dinner speaker. Having moved to England from South Africa at the age of ten, Roy began representing Surrey at Under-11 level before moving through to the Under-19 age group and eventually to Academy Level.

He took part in various matches for the Surrey second team including the Under-19 tour to South Africa in 2007 and The Second XI Trophy in 2008 before making his official first-team debut at the 2008 Twenty20 Cup. It was in 2010 that Jason kickstarted the most successful period of his career. He began by scoring centuries in three successive Championship matches before scoring the first century scored by a Surrey batsman in Twenty20 cricket against Kent. Towards the end of 2010 season, Roy made his first-class debut against Leicestershire and became the last man out in Surrey’s first innings.

Also making history in his international career, Jason became the highest scoring English batsman in ODI in 2017 when he scored 180 against Australia and managed to score the second-highest score ever achieved by an English player in the Cricket World Cup with 153 runs against Bangladesh in 2019. His performance throughout the Cricket World Cup played a key part to the victory of England, he was even included in the ICC’s CWC2019 Team of the Tournament for his efforts.
