It has been a remarkable rise for Kettering comedian James Acaster, who has taken the comedy circuit by storm in recent years. In 2018 he was rightly referred to as 'a comedy genius at the peak of his powers' by The Guardian critic, Brian Logan. Nominated a record five times for the Edinburgh Comedy Award and winner of the Best Show Award at the 2015 Chortle Awards, James' unique perspective on life combined with natural showmanship, complement his glaring talent.
The quick-witted comedian has emerged as one of the UK's best-loved performers. He became the first British comedian to appear in several Netflix specials and has even developed a side-splitting West End show. Capturing life's nuances expertly, whilst compelling audiences with the stories of his personal journey, James' sets echo with the rich sound of comic brilliance. Over the years, James' unique talent has garnered further on-screen attention. After building up a following at the Fringe from 2011 onwards, James was a regular on television from 2014, appearing on the UK's most prominent panel shows. His latest sell-out tour, 'Cold Lasagna Hate Myself' sums up the depth James goes to connect with his audience. In 2026, James joined the line-up for the hit BBC series, 'Celebrity Traitors', joining other well-known comedians such as Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett and Miranda Hart.
Not only does he provoke true empathy in his sets, but he also commands the attention of an audience with outright ease, gifting them jokes that marry his own humiliation with a deafeningly authentic persona. Comedy has simply not had a comic like James Acaster before, which is the mark of a true great. He is a performer who stares into the soul of an audience, creating glittering joke after joke, crafted completely through sheer intelligence alone.
