Born in 1951, Graham Price MBE is a highly regarded former rugby player, who frequently played for his country. Prospering in the position of a prop, he boasts 41 caps whilst playing for the Wales National Rugby Union team and 12 caps for the Lions. As a rugby speaker, he frequently enthrals audiences nationwide with his stories from the pitch. Charismatic and passionate about the sport, he is a true joy to watch present.
Though born in Egypt, Graham moved to Pontypool as a child, to be educated at the University of Wales. After graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering, he joined the Pontypool team as a tight-head prop. Paired with the iconic Charlie Faulkner and Bobby Windsor, Graham made up the legendary front row trio known as the Viet Gwent.
In 1975, Graham made his professional debut at the Five Nations Championship against France, playing for the Wales National Rugby Union team. Along with his other Pontypool teammates, Graham earned his first cap. During a particularly aggressive Welsh counter-attack, Graham scored a try for Wales, leading them to a victory of 25 - 10 - his try is regarded as the fourth-best by a Wales player to this day.
Graham retired from rugby union in 1983 and has since been an active sports speaker on the after-dinner speaker circuit. He was presented with an MBE in 2007 for services to British sports, and in recognition of his role as part of both the Wales International and British Lions teams. As well as being a part of the after-dinner circuit Graham has also had his time in the TV spotlight. In 2012 he had a cameo role on the UK comedy-drama Stella, where he played himself.
As a rugby speaker, Graham specialises in issues of peak performance and sporting success. His essential role within the two national teams has afforded him an insight into how to maintain and maximise success, knowledge which he brings to his role as a sports speaker.
