Garrett Reisman

Garrett Reisman, a former NASA astronaut, is the incredible space man who has pioneered revolutionary missions and now operates as a SpaceX consultant and professor. Three spacewalks, 107 days in space and seven years at NASA later, Garrett had embarked on one of the most influential astronaut careers of his generation. One of the few people to have been on board all three Space Shuttles: Endeavour, Expedition 16 and Expedition 17, Garrett’s NASA career has seen him act as a flight engineer and be responsible for the successful competition of on-orbit tasks for a team of up to twelve others. Not only going out of this world but under it too, Garrett completed an aquanaut mission 20,000 millimeters deep into the sea. The risk management and leadership capabilities Reisman developed in the most high-pressure environment possible are easily transferable to the workplace, something he discusses as a speaker.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and Caltech, Garrett was armed with an Undergraduate, Masters and PhD in Mechanical Engineering when he began his career at General Motors. After developing his interest in innovation and technological advancements, Garrett set his sights on a career in the sky, first working at Hughes Aircraft and TRW Space & Technology Division. By 2001, his mechanical experience, an intuitive mind for design and progressive ambitions landed Garrett at NASA prepared for a remarkable journey ahead. Garrett has been a Senior Advisor at Elon Musk’s SpaceX, a position he has held since 2011. Additionally, Garrett inspires and educates others through his role as a Professor of Astronautical Engineering at the University of South California and his international speaking engagements.
