Gail Muller is a best-selling author, adventure and inspiration to all those who have been told a medical condition will be the end of their life as they know it. After years of living with a debilitating medical condition, and being told by the time she was 40 she would be bound to a wheelchair, Gail has become an expert at pushing herself to the limits and now teaches others to do the same. She is the Founder of The Unlost Collective and with nearly two decades of experience in education internationally, Gail’s speeches are motivational and engaging, expertly teaching others how to channel their energy into accomplishing their dreams, and teaching them how to develop resilience by connecting with all audiences.
Having gained her degree in Archaeology, Ancient History and Classics from Warwick University, Gail then gained her Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism in 2000 and then gained her Postgraduate Certificate of Education from the University of Exeter. After a long hiatus from Education, Gail would then go on to study for her master’s in Broadcast, Journalism and Education at Bath University specialising in inclusion within education. Gail was diagnosed with muscular skeletal issues by doctors who said they said would cause her chronic pain. Despite believing she would be ok, Gail lost 15 years of her life to the chronic illness and nearly succumbed to the mental and physical pain this caused her.
Determined to find something better than pills to numb the pain, Gail embarked on a journey to find more answers and found a solution in Italy. She worked with specialists to rehab her body and eventually, began to take control of her own life once more. This time, she had a new determination to accomplish all she could not whilst she was debilitated with pain. When she was 41 years old Gail completed the 2200 mile Appalachian trail, overcoming the pain and adversity she faced. Gail has held several positions within the education sector including the Director of Learning at Camborne Science and International Academy, Seconded Teacher to the EU from the Department for Education, UK, and the Director of Academic Progress and Enrichment for ARCH Education. Having been diagnosed with ADHD herself, Gail uses her knowledge of being neurodiverse to provide support to neurodiverse students as a Private Tutor.
Gail’s memoir ‘Unlost: A journey of self-discovery and the healing power of the wild outdoors’ became a best-seller in the UK and US, where she inspires people with her story of resilience, encouraging them to connect with nature and learn to understand themselves again. Gail has learnt to look at her condition as her superpower. Gail leaves a huge impact on everyone she meets, showing that when you put your mind to something, it is possible, and it is only yourself holding you back. Look no further than Gail Muller to hire at your next event when looking for a truly inspirational speaker.
