Esther Choo

Esther Choo is a leading healthcare professional who has enjoyed a successful career as an Emergency Physician. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic she has become a prominent voice on how healthcare professionals have been affected, now also booked as a speaker for corporate events. Having spoken at many top events, when booked as a speaker Esther is able to cover topics such as building excellent organisational culture, racism, the effect of Covid-19 on healthcare and roadmaps to better patient outcomes.

Best known as an Emergency Physician, Esther is currently working in Portland, Oregon and is an Associate Professor at the Oregon Health & Science University. She is also well known for being a founding member of TIME’S UP Healthcare and the co-founder of Equity Quotient. TIME’S UP Healthcare epitomises many of Esther’s own passions, working to ensure workplace safety and provide women with the dignity they deserve. As co-founder of Equity Quotient, Esther has worked to assess organisational cultures, helping businesses to create cultures that are safe, respectful and equal.

After earning her medical degree at Yale University, a Master’s in Public Health at Oregon Health & Science University and completing resident training at Boston Medicine Center, Esther has since established a successful career as a healthcare professional. Esther has worked in a number of healthcare roles, including one of her early roles as an Associate Professor at the Alpert Medical School. Throughout her career, Esther has been a prominent advocate for increased diversity, gender equality and racial inclusion within the medical profession. Championing female doctors, Esther has also forged a name as the President of the Academy of Women in Academic Emergency Medicine.

Esther has also shown her support for diversity and inclusion in medicine as the President of the Gender Equity Research Group. In 2020, Esther was appointed as a Professor at OHSU, recognised by them for her passionate advocacy for racial, social and gender equality. Esther has also openly shared her opinions and experiences as a writer for NBC Think, Self Magazine and The Lancet. She also appeared in media broadcasts for the likes of CNN and MSNBC and hosts the podcast Doctor’s Log.
