Ed Gemmell

After a spell as a commissioned officer in the army, in 1992 Ed began his career in the City as a Solicitor for CMS Cameron McKenna. With Cameron McKenna he worked on the sale of Staropramen brewery in Prague to Bass before moving to global law firm Baker and McKenzie. In 1995, Ed began working as the Managing Director of Euro Sports Marketing, spending a decade building his expertise in marketing by working with the likes of Visa, Samsung, Toyota, Coca-Cola and Unilever. Following a passion for marketing, Ed founded Style Media UK Ltd and invented and registered patents for “the only advertising in the World where you cannot turn your head away” combining this with a unique form of word-of -mouth marketing which became known internally at Procter and Gamble as “real life Facebook” Ed’s business also worked for PG Tips, Bovril, Ariel, Cadburys, Colgate, Tassimo, Durex, Vodafone, Nissan, MasterCard and Audi among many other international brands.

In the third week of June 2019 life turned on its head. Ed underwent an “ecological conversion” a real “road to Damascus moment”. Dreaming about his two young sons as adults engaged in wars for water in Europe Ed instantly made the decision on to work on solving the Climate Crisis. Initially Ed became a Board Member of Scientists Warning and stood as an Independent General Election Candidate for High Wycombe to reverse climate change.

To further his impact as an environmentalist, Ed became the Founder of Believers Action on Climate Change, an initiative that gathers people of all religious faiths who wish to act on climate change (Ed regularly presents on Laudato Si the Pope’s letter to the World urging people of faith to avoid leaving a world of “desolation and filth” to our children). Ed is also the Founder of No Disposable Cup Day, celebrated on the 4th of October, and Managing Director of Scientists Warning Europe, raising awareness of the warnings from the World’s Scientists in 1992, 2017,2019 and 2021 (two of which are the most endorsed scientific papers every written). Other prominent roles of Ed’s include being a Member of the Action Committee for Fondazione SOS Planet, a Unitary Councillor for the Buckingham Unitary Authority, Leader of COP26 Delegation for Scientists Warning Europe, and a board member on each of the Environment Economy Housing and Transport board of the Local Government Association, the Buckinghamshire LGPS Pension Committee and the Transport, Environment and Climate Change committee of Bucks Council. Having learned the ropes of politics and leadership, Ed is also the author of How to Become a Councillor? guiding people on how they too can become a councillor and politician like himself and runs regular trainings on entering local politics.

Focussing his interests as the Leader of The Climate Party, Britain’s new pro-business pro climate party, Ed is driven to show leadership in motivating society to take action against climate change to ensure the survival of humanity. As an economic realist and political leader, Ed presses the case for Britain to lead the Decarbonisation Revolution, the new industrial revolution, reaching carbon zero by 2030.
