Dr. Patrice Baptiste

Dr Patrice Baptiste is an award-winning portfolio GP with experience spanning clinical medicine, education, research and medical writing. She has held several senior positions within academia, including senior lecturer roles at the University of East London, Ulster University, Queen Mary University of London and the General Medical Council. Dr Patrice is passionate about empowering future and early-career doctors, helping them develop the confidence, skills and mindset needed to succeed in an ever-evolving medical landscape. As a speaker, she has delivered educational talks at prestigious institutions like Oxford University, King’s College London and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, where she combines academic theory with real-world experience. Dr Patrice graduated from University College London with an Intercalated BSc in Speech Science and Communication in 2010. In 2013, she began her medical career as a doctor at East London NHS Foundation Trust, where she developed her clinical skills and deepened her professional understanding of medicine. Over the following years, she focused more on the educational side of medicine and has since become a respected authority within medical academia. In 2019, she served as a Medical OSCE Examiner at Queen Mary University of London, and later became a GP Tutor at Queen Mary University of London in 2020. In 2021, she served as MSc Programme Lead and Senior Clinical Lecturer at the College of Medicine and Dentistry, where she played an integral role in developing a pioneering Master’s programme for international medical graduates. Dr Patrice was appointed Associate Lecturer at The Open University in 2022, became a Reporting Doctor at London Medical Laboratory in 2023, and was later appointed Senior Lecturer at the University of East London in 2025. 

Alongside being a medical educator, Dr Patrice is also an innovative entrepreneur who has founded multiple initiatives. She first founded DreamSmartTutors in 2016, a medical career initiative designed to connect doctors with students to facilitate better career insights and diversity within the field. She later founded Medschool Xtra to support medical students in developing essential non-clinical skills, including academic writing and financial literacy. In 2025, Dr Patrice published 'Portfolio Careers for GPs', an incredible resource created to help clinicians diversify their careers. She additionally contributes writing to GP Online and the BMJ, and shares further educational content on her YouTube Channel, Dr. P. Baptiste. For her dedicated work, she has won the Lift Effects STAR Award and WeAreTheCity Rising Star Award. She was also a finalist at the Black British Business Awards, Precious Awards and the National Diversity Awards.
