Donald Standen is a British actor who has landed roles as a model and character actor in both film and television consistently over the last twenty-five years; boasting appearances in a number of international advertising campaigns Donald has also worked alongside some of the biggest names in Hollywood film and British theatre.
Beginning his career as a model in the early 1980’s Donald was often cast for his classic Hollywood good looks and compared to 1940’s heroes such as Gregory Peck and Cary Grant. It was his handsome features, coupled with an ability to draw the audience’s eye that brought Standen before Superman himself, American actor Christopher Reeve, who personally chose Donald to act as his stand-in for the Superman IV movie.
Donald continues to work as an actor and has garnered recognition for a number of leading roles in stage performances, his resume includes stints as the dramatic lead in Harold Pinter plays to musical adaptations and pantomime. Donald has also continued to appear in TV commercials representing huge global brands such as Persil, Lynx for Men and Churchill Insurance.
