Dominic Ashley-Timms

Dominic Ashley-Timms is a globally recognised leadership keynote speaker, behavioural change expert and business leader. He is Founder and CEO of Notion and Co-Author of the bestselling book ‘The Answer is a Question’, alongside Laura Ashley-Timms. One of his most significant achievement is the creation of the multi-award-winning STAR® Manager programme, a scientifically validated framework proven to deliver measurable productivity gains and an average 74x return on investment.

Dominic began his career with a BSc, Hons, in Information Technology and Human Factors from Loughborough University, where he also served as President of AIESEC Loughborough. His early professional experience included roles as an Ergonomist and Asset Management Consultant before moving to BP Oil, where he worked as Strategic Business Analyst and later Business Manager. These positions exposed Dominic to the realities of operational complexity, organisational change and the human dynamics that influence performance. He later completed an EMBA at IMD Lausanne, a formative experience that refined his understanding of executive leadership and organisational systems. These early influences shaped Dominic’s belief that leadership effectiveness depends on communication, behavioural insight and the ability to ask purposeful questions rather than provide constant answers.

Dominic’s career accelerated when he joined Arthur Andersen Business Consulting, where he rose to Senior Manager, leading major transformation programmes for national retailers and government bodies. In 2000, he co-founded Notion, establishing it as a global performance consultancy working with FTSE and Fortune 500 organisations. Dominic is the Creator of the STAR® model for Operational Coaching® and co-creator of the STAR® Manager programme, which has been independently evaluated by the London School of Economics following UK Government-funded research across more than 60 organisations. The results demonstrated significant improvements in communication, engagement, productivity and retention. In 2021, Notion was named Personnel Today L&D Supplier of the Year, recognising the measurable commercial impact of Dominic’s work. He has delivered keynote speeches and executive sessions in 37 countries, including engagements for senior leaders at major international organisations, cementing his reputation as a trusted authority on management capability and cultural transformation.
