Having proved himself as a promising BMX athlete, Declan was selected to represent his country at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. After their postponement by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Declan travelled to Tokyo in 2021 and claimed Olympic Bronze in the BMX Freestyle event. Before the games even took place, Declan was propelled into the limelight as he became the first person to represent Britain in the BMX Freestyle event, proving his country proud with their first Bronze medal in the event.
