David Linthicum is a globally recognised artificial intelligence and cloud computing thought leader, technology strategist and keynote speaker, renowned for helping organisations understand and adopt emerging enterprise technologies. With more than three decades of experience, David is the Founder and Lead Researcher of Linthicum Research and the former Managing Director and Chief Cloud Strategy Officer at Deloitte Consulting LLP. He has become one of the world’s influential voices on AI, cloud computing and enterprise architecture, combining deep technical knowledge with practical insight into how organisations can achieve measurable business value from technology.
David studied at George Mason University before building his career during a transformative period for enterprise computing. His early experience included working as Technical Director at Mobil Oil, followed by positions with HP Enterprise Services and AT&T Solutions. In 1997, David joined Ernst & Young as a Senior Manager within the Center for Technology Enablement, supporting business development and developing approaches to enterprise application integration. Later that year, he became Chief Technology Officer of SAGA Software, helping shape its technology strategy as enterprise integration became increasingly important to major organisations. David subsequently served as Chief Technology Officer of Mercator, later acquired by IBM, and Chief Technology Officer of Grand Central Communications, an early developer of cloud based infrastructure and integration technology. These roles placed David at the forefront of technologies that would eventually underpin modern cloud computing and enterprise AI.
David continued his entrepreneurial career as CEO of BRIDGEWERX before founding Blue Mountain Labs, where he served as Founder, CTO and formerly CEO, advising Global 2000 businesses and government agencies on emerging enterprise technologies. In 2013, he founded Linthicum Research, an independent technology research and advisory firm focused on major developments in cloud computing and artificial intelligence. He also became Senior Vice President at Cloud Technology Partners, providing strategic leadership across cloud strategy, architecture and implementation. In 2018, David joined Deloitte Consulting as Managing Director and Chief Cloud Strategy Officer, leading work around cloud technology strategy, architecture, innovation and major client engagements until 2024. Alongside his executive career, David has built an extensive body of thought leadership, becoming the author of more than 17 books, thousands of articles and over 70 LinkedIn Learning courses. He has also worked as an InfoWorld cloud computing columnist, GigaOm Technology Futurist and Adjunct Instructor at Louisiana State University, while his official platform credits him with more than 250 white papers and 30 industry awards.
As a keynote speaker, David provides audiences with practical insight into the technologies reshaping modern organisations, drawing upon decades spent advising businesses, developing enterprise architectures and analysing emerging trends. At a time when organisations are investing heavily in AI while facing questions around cost, security, governance and measurable returns, David helps audiences separate genuine opportunities from technology hype. His combination of technical expertise, executive experience and commercial understanding makes him an authoritative keynote speaker for organisations seeking to make informed decisions about AI, cloud computing and the future of enterprise technology.
