David Gee

David Gee is a world-renowned keynote speaker, CIO, CISO, board advisor and author, who has shaped technology and cyber leadership across industries and continents. With more than 25 years at the highest levels of global business, he has held senior roles at leading institutions and is recognised for his thought leadership in digital transformation and cybersecurity. David’s career journey began in Asia, where he worked in senior technology positions with MetLife Japan and Eli Lilly. These roles immersed him in both the operational and cultural demands of international business, shaping his leadership style and his ability to navigate complexity. He went on to become Chief Information Officer at Credit Union Australia (CUA), where he led a major transformation of digital banking, mobile platforms and core systems. His achievements at CUA, which earned him the CIO of the Year Award in 2014, remain a highlight of his early executive years. David’s international outlook, combined with hands-on experience in multiple industries, laid the foundation for his later impact as a trusted leader in technology and cybersecurity.

Throughout his career, David has held some of the most influential roles in global finance and cyber risk. He served as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for HSBC Asia Pacific, where he directed security strategy across one of the world’s largest regions, before becoming Global Head of Technology, Cyber and Data Risk at Macquarie Group. His governance experience includes serving as Chairman of the FS-ISAC Strategy Committee, advancing global collaboration on financial cyber resilience. In 2023, he was honoured with the Global Leaders Award for his contributions to the cybersecurity industry. Beyond the boardroom, David has published over 150 articles for CIO, CSO, Computerworld and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), building his reputation as a leading voice in the industry.
