Leading chef, restaurateur, author and television personality, David Chang, is the founder of the international Momofuku restaurant group, which includes 7 bar-restaurants at locations in New York City, Sydney, Toronto and Washington DC. The Momofuku Ko in New York has retained two Michelin stars every year since 2009.
Initially starting his career by attending The French Culinary Institute in 2000, David worked part-time for a while at The Mercer Kitchen and Tom Colicchio’s Craft restaurant in New York. During the early stages of his career, David moved back and forth between Japan and New York, working at a variety of bars and restaurants.
It was in 2004 that David opened his first restaurant, Momofuku Noodle Bar, which received rave reviews. On the back of this success, David set up the second venture in his franchise, Momofuku Ssam Bar in 2006. In 2010, it was announced that Momofuku was going international, opening up a restaurant in Sydney, Australia. In its first year, the restaurant was awarded three hats from the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide and was named 'Best New Restaurant'.
David and co-writer Peter Meehan published Momofuku: A Cookbook, which was highly anticipated. The book contained detailed recipes from Chang's restaurant menus.
