Cam Whitnall

Cam Whitnall is a children’s wildlife TV presenter, photographer and conservation leader, best known as Managing Director of The Big Cat Sanctuary and star of CBBC’s ‘One Zoo Three’. A compelling speaker, Cam is widely recognised for leading the high-profile rescue of lions from Ukraine and using media to inspire the next generation about wildlife protection.

Raised at Hertfordshire Zoo and The Big Cat Sanctuary, Cam grew up immersed in animal care, conservation breeding and education. Living alongside big cats shaped his understanding of responsibility and long-term stewardship from an early age. He developed creative and strategic expertise in digital media as Head of Video at Jungle Creations, where he led content teams and oversaw large-scale productions. In 2020, he stepped into senior roles at both The Big Cat Sanctuary and Hertfordshire Zoo, serving as Marketing Manager and driving growth through storytelling, partnerships and audience engagement. During the Covid lockdowns, Cam began sharing his wildlife photography online, building a community of more than two million followers across social platforms, an achievement that led to his recognition as an official Nikon Creator.

Cam’s public profile expanded when he became a presenter on CBBC’s ‘One Zoo Three’, later appearing in ‘OZT Goes Wild in Britain’ alongside his brothers. The series offers young audiences an authentic look at zoo life and global conservation, blending education with entertainment. In 2019, Cam co-led the Drive4Wildlife expedition across East Africa, travelling over 2,000 miles to deliver vital funding, equipment and an animal ambulance to conservation partners in Uganda. He later took on the role of Project Lead for the ‘Big Cats in Crisis’ campaign, coordinating the rescue of five African lions from war-torn Ukraine and overseeing their relocation to a purpose-built habitat in Kent. In 2025, he was appointed Managing Director of The Big Cat Sanctuary, taking strategic responsibility for one of the UK’s leading big cat conservation centres.
