Billy Dardis is an experienced rugby player who has spent his career astounding Ireland with his exceptional abilities. Initially finding his feet in the field in Ireland’s National Under-20 Rugby Union team, he has since impressed at Championships and the Six Nations alike. Predominantly heralded for his impressive footwork and pace, Billy is an iconic player on Ireland’s sporting scene. Whether he’s leading his nation to the highest finish for any non-core world series team, or ranking second among all tournament players with a whopping 32 points, Billy is a master of standing out on the rugby pitch.
Beginning his rugby career young, Billy played for Newbridge College while at secondary school. However, as he started to take the sport seriously, he moved on to Terenure College – a decision that allowed him to tightly focus his efforts on rugby. During this time, he played in the Leinster Schools Senior Cup, as well as featured for Leinster in the Under-18 and Under-19 divisions. Following three years of consistent training, Billy finally secured himself his first professional contract for the 2016 season, placing him in the perfect position to swiftly progress later on in his career.
Though he sought to qualify for the 2016 Olympics with the Ireland National Rugby Sevens Team, Billy found that he could do so much more than simply play. So, in 2017, he became the captain of the team for the Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series. As a direct result of his guidance, in partnership with his team’s talent, they were able to qualify for the 2018 Hong Kong Sevens and the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens. Once again, Billy took on the responsibility of leading the team, culminating in a monumental achievement. By the time the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens concluded, Ireland finished in ninth – a feat never accomplished before.
Billy Dardis has spent his professional career constantly raising the bar and pushing the limits of what he can do. As a result, he’s gathered an exceptional amount of experience in leadership and strategy. In 2019, he led Ireland to victory during the 2019 Hong Kong Sevens qualifiers, and again when he guided the National Rugby Sevens Team through the 2020 Olympics qualifiers. Billy certainly has a fascinating career story to tell, so hire him for your event today! His tales of hard-won triumph and remarkable resilience will no doubt wow and amaze audiences of all ages.
