Beth Rigby is the first woman to have held the position of Political Editor for Sky News. One of the UK’s most prominent political journalists, Beth’s riveting interviews with former Prime Ministers Tony Blair, Theresa May and Boris Johnson are a small purview into her knowledge of UK politics. Regarded as a “stand out political broadcaster of our times” by the Royal Television Society magazine, Beth is available to speak at events on politics, journalism and media.
Having studied Social and Political Science at the University of Cambridge, Beth joined the Financial Times as a Graduate Trainee, later assuming responsibilities as Hedge Fund Correspondent and Retail Correspondent for the Financial Times. Her appointment as Consumer Industries Editor for the Financial Times in 2008, made Beth one of the youngest team leaders at the newspaper. With 20 years of experience as a print journalist, she became the Media Editor for The Times.
Transitioning to broadcast, in 2016 Beth joined as a Senior Political Correspondent at Sky News. Beth has earned a reputation as a fearless journalist, bold enough to ask top political figures such as Sir Keir Stammer, Nicola Sturgeon, and Boris Johnson hard-hitting questions about their governance. Her reporting on matters such as Brexit, elections and the COVID pandemic have positioned her as one of the foremost journalists in the UK. Now as Political Editor for Sky News, Beth co-anchors Sky News’ overnight live election show, viewed by countless people around the nation. Beth was named Political Journalist of the Year at the 2024 Royal Television Society Journalism Awards.
