Andrew Schwartz is the Director of Metaverse Engineering at Nike. He is an expert on digital innovation, marketing strategies, product design, and content creation. Currently, Andrew is responsible for leading Nike’s expansion into the metaverse, using various digital technologies such as web3 and spatial web. With NFTs and digital assets becoming increasingly popular among members of the sneaker community, Andrew is leading the way forward in the creation of digital fashion. After graduating with a degree in English from Rollins College, Andrew Founded the Idea Company in 1995, an early web design company which has now transitioned into a digital, brand and business innovation consultancy. He then went on to become Director of Development at Strata-G Internet Group where he identified internet trends as leader of the internet division. This was followed by the role of Strategy Network Lead at Razorfish, where he was responsible for brand strategy engagements for products, organisations, and client initiatives. In 2011, Andrew joined Crown Partners as a Brand Manager and acted as Chief Marketing Officer in charge of all creative marketing activities.
Other notable roles held by Andrew include Product Commercialisation Consultant for Mission Essential, Lab Lead at CVS Health Digital Innovation Lab and Head of Content Innovation at Leia Inc, a Silicon Valley start-up creating breakthrough mobile technology. In 2017, he became a Senior Digital Product Lead for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, where he designed and developed multiple products for the company’s digital portfolio. Later he joined Portland State University as a Blockchain Advisory Board Member alongside his new role with Nike as Director of Innovation Engineering in 2021.
With the shifts in consumer attitudes and advancements in technology such as web3 and spatial web allowing for the creation of a new generation of virtual worlds, Andrew is at the forefront of innovation in the digital fashion space. Many of the leading fashion brands in the world including Adidas, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and The North Face are investing in digital fashion to be used in the metaverse. Having amassed first-hand experience as Director of Metaverse Engineering for Nike, Andrew can speak on the cutting-edge technology currently being used to develop Nike’s virtual sneakers, helping his audience build an understanding of the latest fashion trends and digital technology being used.
