Ada Ibezi is a domestic abuse and safeguarding consultant who specialises in supporting vulnerable individuals, developing trauma-informed practices and advising organisations on effective safeguarding policies and interventions. She is the Founder and CEO of Against Domestic Abuse (ADA) in the UK and the Founder and CEO of The Ada Ibezi Foundation in Nigeria, both non-governmental organisations (NGOs) created to challenge the stigma around domestic abuse and support those affected. She is also an award-winning international speaker who offers valuable insights into safeguarding practices, empowers audiences with practical knowledge and inspires meaningful change in how individuals and organisations respond to domestic abuse.
As the Director of Education and Board Member at the Prime Cornerstone Afro Initiative, Ada provided expert advice and increased educational access for underprivileged children. She also implemented and led the 'Back-to-School, Stay-in-School, Complete School (BSC) initiative, an educational program developed to address the high rates of children out of school in underprivileged areas of Nigeria. In 2016, Ada founded FitAfrica Warriors, where she served as head coach, delivering culturally relevant fitness sessions that often incorporated Afrobeats dance. Through this work, she empowered members to strengthen both their physical health and mental well-being. In 2024, Ada became a Lived-Experience Trustee for KidsOut, a national charity that supports children and mothers living in refuges after escaping domestic abuse. As part of this role, Ada ensures that services respond to both the emotional and practical needs of children, while also maintaining a focus on long-term sustainability and meaningful impact.
Ada is currently the Chair of the MPS VAWG Independent Advisory Group as well as a speaker, facilitator and panel member for the MET's Community-Centred Learning. Ada plays a key role in training new police recruits, frontline staff and mid-level leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to respond appropriately to domestic abuse reports and support survivors. She also volunteered with Hestia, working closely with the organisation to promote fitness and well-being among women living in refuges across London and the South East of England. For her dedication and pioneering work, Ada won Hestia’s ‘Volunteer of the Year’ Award in 2023. She also makes important contributions as a member of the Croydon VAWG Network, Global Majority Domestic Abuse Partnership Forum (GDAP) and Croydon Council’s Expert-by-Experience Panel, helping to shape more inclusive and effective responses to abuse.
As a qualified Freedom Programme Facilitator, Ada brings a structured, evidence-based approach to her speaking, equipping audiences with the tools to recognise patterns of abusive behaviour, understand the impact on survivors and support pathways to rebuilding confidence and independence. She combines professional expertise with lived insight, creating engaging and thought-provoking sessions that challenge misconceptions and leave audiences with clear strategies they can apply within their own roles and communities.
