Danny Howard is one of Britain's leading dance music broadcasters, DJs and producers, best known as the host of BBC Radio 1's flagship Radio 1 Dance Party. Since winning the BBC Radio 1 Superstar DJ competition in 2011, Danny has become one of the most influential figures in electronic music, balancing a successful broadcasting career with international DJ performances, music production and his own record label. Renowned for championing emerging talent and delivering high-energy DJ sets, Danny is hired to headline festivals, club events, corporate parties and exclusive private functions, where his unrivalled knowledge of dance music and infectious stage presence consistently impress audiences.
Danny's journey into music began while studying Sport and Exercise Science at Edge Hill University, where he secured a residency at The Syndicate nightclub in Blackpool. After spending time DJing for Ministry of Sound in Egypt, he entered and won the BBC Radio 1 Superstar DJ competition in 2011. The victory earned him his own BBC Radio 1 programme, Dance Anthems, making him one of the station's youngest presenters. Alongside his broadcasting career, Danny established himself as a respected producer, releasing tracks on labels including Spinnin' Records and later launching his own imprint, Nothing Else Matters, which has become a respected platform for established and emerging house music artists.
Over the past decade, Danny has become one of the defining voices of British dance music. In 2017, he joined BBC Radio 1's prestigious Friday night line-up alongside Annie Mac and Pete Tong before taking over Radio 1 Dance Party in 2021. He has continued to expand his influence through Nothing Else Matters, releasing music from internationally acclaimed DJs while performing at some of the world's most iconic venues, including fabric, Drumsheds, The Warehouse Project, Pacha Ibiza, Hï Ibiza and Amnesia Ibiza. In 2024, he also launched Radio 1 Dance Party Warm-Up, further strengthening his position at the heart of BBC Radio 1's dance programming.
Danny is an exceptional choice for festivals, club nights, brand activations and corporate events thanks to his ability to combine technical DJ excellence with mainstream appeal. Alongside his BBC Radio 1 broadcasts, he has performed across Ibiza, Dubai, Australia, North America and Europe, appearing at internationally renowned venues and festivals while supporting the world's biggest dance brands. His work with Defected, DFTD, Moon Harbour, Anjunadeep and his own Nothing Else Matters label, together with his experience interviewing leading DJs and breaking new music on BBC Radio 1, makes him one of the UK's most respected and in-demand electronic music personalities.
