Known online as Flash, Lee Young-ho is one of the greatest StarCraft players of all time. His high profile career saw him win a record-breaking number of titles both individually and with his team.
One of the youngest professional gamers, Flash became an eSports superstar at only fifteen years old. After joining the KT Rolster in 2007 aged fourteen, he won the OnGameNet Starleague one year later, making him the youngest player to win a premier Korean tournament. In the 2009-2010 season, Flash shot to fame as he reached the finals of all seven premier tournaments and won five of them. This unprecedented achievement was the beginning of a lucrative gaming career for him.
Flash played StarCraft: Brood War from 2007 until his professional retirement in 2015. In 2011 he started to also play StarCraft II, which he continued to be successful at for the remainder of his career. Flash set the record for the highest peak ELO of any player and the highest win-loss ratio. He has won the most games in Proleague competitions and is the only person to have won four OnGameNet Starleague tournaments in the space of twelve months. In 2008 he was named as a part of TaekBangLeeSsan, a quad of highly-skilled, consistent players that are dominant in Brood War.
Once his professional career ended, Flash announced he would start broadcasting live streams on Afreeca in 2016 of him playing his original game; StarCraft: Brood War. Later that year he went on to win the Afreeca Season 2 Starleague, and again won the award in 2017 for season three and season four. In 2017 Flash won the ‘Golden Trophy’, for his trio of wins in the Starleague.
After an injury, he recently returned to retain his success winning the 2019 Afreeca Starleague Season 8, making him the only person to have won four seasons of the premier tournament. In September 2019 he announced his second retirement as he entered National Service in South Korea.
