Vivek Wadhwa

Academic, researcher, writer and entrepreneur, Vivek Wadhwa is a Distinguished Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Engineering. His research is primarily focused on advancing technologies that are changing the world through robotics, artificial intelligence, computing, synthetic biology, 3D printing, medicine and nano-materials. It is these advancements that are allowing smaller organisations to solve humanity’s challenges in education, health, food, water, shelter and security, that previously could only be solved by governments and large corporations.

Vivek is a prolific author, having written several books on subjects including, The Driver in the Driverless Car: How Our Technology Choices Will Create the Future, The Immigrant Exodus: Why America is Losing the Global Race to Capture Entrepreneurial Talent, which was named Book of the Year 2012 by The Economist, and Innovating Women: The Changing Face of Technology, which looks at the lack of diversity in the Silicon Valley and the struggles and triumphs of women. He is also a globally syndicated columnist for The Washington Post.

A distinguished academic, Vivek has held appointments at Duke University, Stanford Law School, Harvard Law School, Emery University and been a faculty member at Singularity University. He teaches on subjects including technology, industry disruption, entrepreneurship, public policy, as well as researching policy, law and ethics of exponential technologies. He also acts as an advisor to several governments.
