Adam Cheyer

Co-Founder & VP Engineering Of Viv Labs

Adam Cheyer is the co-founder and vice-president of engineering at Viv Labs, and has been described as a pioneer in areas such as distributed computing, intelligent agents and advanced user interfaces. He is also a founding member and advisor to Change.org, the premier social network for positive social change. Viv Labs is a start-up that is simplifying the world by providing an intelligent interface to everything.

Before Viv, Adam was the co-founder and vice-president of engineering at Siri Inc., alongside Dag Kittlaus and Tom Gruber, which aimed to fundamentally redesign the face of the consumer mobile experience. The virtual personal assistant was so successful that the team received a personal phone call from Steve Jobs himself asking to buy the software. In 2010, Siri was acquired by Apple Inc., and Adam became Director of Engineering the iPhone/iOS group. He is also the co-founder of Sentient Technologies.

Prior to Siri, Adam was programme director in SRI’s Artificial Intelligence Centre, where he served as Chief Architect of the CALO/PAL Project, that was creating a next-generation personal cognitive assistant that would learn and self-improve ‘in the wild’. Throughout his 15 years of experience, Adam has worked in a variety of roles, including executive, software engineer, research scientist, consultant, lecturer and technical manager. He is also the author of 59 peer-reviewed publications and more than 20 issued patents.
