Before embarking on a dynamic career as one of the leading authorities in the world of digital disruption, Linda Davidson played a prominent role in BBC soap opera, Eastenders. Playing the character of Mary Smith between 1985-88, she was voted #88 in the 100 Greatest Eastenders Characters of All Time in 2010.
She would be called upon to appear on TV programmes including Lorraine, The Graham Norton Show, Casualty and Blankety Blank in the years that followed, and wrote for Tomorrow’s World before the world wide web captured her imagination and she moved into digital media.
Linda developed the early BBC websites and was central to the launch of E4 soon after transitioning into a role in digital media. Heading up digital media and distribution deals for the likes of BBC and Channel 4 and pioneering the use of new technologies such as live webcasts and on-demand, she soon carved out a niche in the industry.
She became the European Director, Business Strategy IT and Enterprise and Operational Services for Discovery Networks before working as a contractor for BBC Technology, BBC Global News Ltd and an interactive media lecturer at Ravensbourne University. In her time at the university, she was referred to glowingly by an assessor in a committee publication who described her as “an extremely motivational teacher and communicator”.
Since then, Linda has worked with Channel 4 to launch programmes, as well as The Jamie Oliver Group working on the redevelopment of the companies service catalogue, significant savings and building a technology roadmap.
