Geoff Rowe

Founder & Director Of The Leicester Comedy Festival

Geoff Rowe is the founder and director of Europe’s longest running comedy festival, the Leicester Comedy Festival. A De Montfort University graduate, Geoff first came up with idea for a comedy festival during his final year studies in 1993 when tasked with a practical project to do as much as he and his group liked within the context of their arts management degree.

From that moment on the Leicester Comedy Festival was born, the first being held in 1994 with 40 events across 23 Leicester venues over the course of seven days. It attracted an audience of 5000 and received a modest amount of media interest. Over the years the festival has gone from strength to strength with huge names on the comedy circuit such as Jimmy Carr, Jack Dee, Jo Brand and Harry Hill performing in venues all over the city.

To highlight just how much interest there is in the festival, 2015 saw the event extended by 2 days so in total 630 events were held across 47 venues over a 19-day period.Geoff now talks about his experience and the efforts involved in taking the festival to the stage it is at now on the after dinner speaking circuit. An engaging and enthralling story, it is sure to have your guests gripped at any forthcoming event.
