Producer turned television and radio presenter Richard Osman is best known as Alexander Armstrong’s “pointless friend” on the BBC quiz show Pointless. Landing the job after pitching the idea for the quiz show to BBC executives Osman impressed the panel in a demonstration where he acted as the show’s co-host and later went on to play the part when the show began filming. Prior to embarking on his career as a radio and television presenter Richard worked behind the scenes at both Channel 4 and the BBC. His producer and executive producer credits include Deal or No Deal, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Whose Line Is It Anyway and Total Wipeout.
Since 2009 Richard Osman has worked alongside Armstrong as the TV presenter of Pointless, where he provides contestants with alternative answers which would have gained them more, or in this case less, points.
Outside his work as a TV presenter Richard Osman has played a vital role in the development of some of the UK’s most popular TV quiz and panel shows, he has appeared as a guest on a number of comedy series as has acted as a guest host for the BBC’s satirical panel series Have I Got News for You? More recently Richard Osman has appeared as a guest on Would I Lie To You alongside notable British comedians David Mitchell and Rob Brydon. He has been employed as a stand in TV presenter on The One Show and has begun hosting a new BBC quiz show, Two Tribes. Which airs on BBC2.
