Jim Allenby

Australian born cricketer and sports speaker Jim Allenby is known as an effective all-rounder who has played on a variety of British domestic teams. Allenby, who worked as a cricket speaker for the Durham Cricket Board, made his First-Class debut in 2006 for Leicestershire, having already spent a year with the club. Whilst at Durham, Allenby appeared in only one game over the three years in which he served and it was only whilst playing for Leicestershire that he began to find his stride.

Whilst at Leicestershire, Jim Allenby played a vital role in the teams Twenty20 Cup win of 2006, scoring 64 and taking two wickets in the final against Nottinghamshire. During this period, Allenby also played club cricket for Brandon Cricket Club in the North East of England and, with Leicestershire, took part in his first County Championship, scoring a maiden first-class century and helping Leicestershire to victory.

Following a period playing for West Australia during the cricketing offseason, Allenby made history in 2008 when he became the first Twenty20 Cup player to achieve four wickets with four consecutive balls, bowling out fellow cricket speakers and Lancashire Lighting players Kyle Hogg, Steven Croft, Dominic Cork and Sajid Mahmood.

After four years with Leicestershire, Jim Allenby moved to Glamorgan in 2009 where he remained until the end of the 2014 season; whilst with the Dragons, Allenby scored more than 730 County Championship runs and became hugely popular amongst Glamorgan’s fans. Whilst at the club the Aussie native would frequently attend sports speaker events or appear as a special guest at both fan and club functions.

In 2013 Jim Allenby topped the club’s batting averages in both the County Championship and Friends Life T20, averaging an impressive 60.10. Allenby finally left Glamorgan having contributed two centuries and nine 50’s and moved to Somerset where he remained for a further three seasons. Most recently, he has become the director of cricket and head coach at CNCC Tigers as well as the player development manager at World Sports Xchange Cricket agency.

A captivating and dynamic cricket speaker, Jim Allenby can provide some of the most interesting insights into the cricket career. With more than 14 years worth of experience under his belt, he is considered a leading expert in achieving a winning mindset and maintaining drive and determination.
