Wes Morgan

Premier League footballer, Wes Morgan is the Captain of Leicester City and former longest serving Nottingham Forest player. Dedicated and driven, Morgan’s leadership has seen his teams thrive throughout the over 25 years he’s been active in the sport, including his national team of Jamaica and he continues to show outstanding form, gaining him a reputation as a formidable player. Choosing to represent his ancestral team of Jamaica at an international level, Morgan gained his first cap for his country in 2013 in a draw against Panama. An evidently dominant defender who showed his leadership abilities from the outset, Morgan gained the captaincy for Jamaica in 2014 and was called on to represent the side in two Copa America competitions, achieving a respectable runner up at 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Morgan last played internationally in 2016, having secured 30 caps for the side.

An early interest in football led Morgan to compete at a semi professional level whilst studying, before being scouted by Nottingham Forest, his home squad, for an apprenticeship. Making his professional debut whilst on loan to Kidderminster Harriers in 2002, Morgan was soon being requested for the first team at Nottingham Forest as he evidenced his dynamic talents on the pitch. The first decade of his professional career saw Morgan named in the Football League Team of the Decade, make over 350 appearances for Forest and awarded the league team captaincy in 2011.

Transferring to Leicester City in 2012, Morgan has remained there since, continuing his reputation as a prominent defender. Named captain in his inaugural year, Morgan led his side to win the 2014 Premier League and the Football League Championship in 2014, a testament to his confident direction. Hailed as ‘the perfect captain’ the intellect applied to the game by Morgan has seen him revered in the industry, and named Leicester City Player of the Season 2013.
