Tom Fletcher is the Vice Chair of the University of Oxford Conference of Colleges. Also the Principal of Hertford College at the University of Oxford, Tom has led a rather illustrious career, having held numerous eminent positions across prestigious organisations. Tom is now available to speak at a wide range of events about his expertise in geopolitics, technology and leadership.
Tom received a rarified education, pursuing a BA and MA in History from the University of Oxford. He has served as Foreign Policy Advisor to the UK Prime Minister and British Ambassador to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office – both roles in which he flourished. He has also served as the Global Strategy Director of Global Business Coalition for Education and Chair of the International Creative Industries Federation.
Author of “The Naked Diplomat: Understanding Power and Politics in the Digital Age”, Tom writes about how governments, businesses and individuals can flourish in the 21st century and how citizens can use technology to take back control. He is also the author of “Ten Survival Skills for a World in a Flux” and “The Ambassador”. Tom has also served as a Visiting Professor of International Relations at New York University for five years.
As Founder of The Foundation of Opportunity, he provides support to those who want to make a positive difference to public life. Awarded a CMG title in the 2011 New Year’s Honours for services to the Prime Minister, Tom’s contributions are widely appreciated. Tom is also often called upon podcasts to share his views on international affairs and diplomacy. He also delivered the TEDx talk "The Peace Processes of the Future".
