Renowned auctioneer, antiques expert and popular presenter, Tim Wonnacott is one of the BBC’s most recognisable faces. Having spent over thirty years on the screen, and fifteen years prior to that in the auction room, Tim is the perfect celebrity to host a charity auction and bring down the gavel on a special event.

Best known for his role as the presenter of BBC 1’s Bargain Hunt, Tim has been helping collectors make cash at antique fairs for twelve years. Originally only signed to the show for thirty shows, his eccentric personality and unrivalled expertise meant he was an instant hit with viewers, who rated the programmes number one on any UK channel. In addition to his role on Bargain Hunt he has also appeared as a specialist on: The Great Antiques Hunt, The Antiques Show and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is.

Starting his career by gaining his qualification as a charter auctioneer and completing a Masters in fine and decorative arts,Tim aspired to become an expert in antiques from the outset. His first industry role was at the art, jewelry and collectible brokers, Sotheby’s. Working his way through the departments, Tim gained an in-depth knowledge of fine art, sculptures and ceramic. Spending a total of 25 years at Sotheby’s,Tim conducted auctions across the world and became a Director of the company in 1985.

As a world renowned auctioneer, Tim has become sought after to speak at events and teach lectures. From art to history, antiques to sculptures, Tim has given talks on a range of subjects and at events such as: Sworders charity valuation roadshow, cruise entertainment and special ‘an evening with’ occasions.
