Terry Crews is a globally renowned actor and TV presenter, best known for his roles in popular shows and movies such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, America’s Got Talent and White Chicks. Before reaching international fame, he was an American football player in the NFL for several years. Moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, Terry faced years of rejection and found himself sweeping factory floors to make ends meet.
His first break came with the extreme sports show Battle Dome in 1999, where he became a series regular. Making his acting debut in The 6th Day, he began landing roles and first gained international recognition for his role in the comedy film White Chicks. Building on this momentum, he played the role of Julius in the TV series Everybody Hates Chris, which aired for four years and was rebooted as an animated series in 2024. Terry is widely known for his role in the NBC sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine as the comedic and lovable character Terry Jeffords. The show won two Golden Globes and was commissioned for eight seasons. Transitioning into live TV, Terry became the host of America’s Got Talent in 2019, after previously hosting the spin-off series. He is also well known for his roles in Deadpool 2, Are We There Yet?, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 and The Expendables franchise.
As a credit to his incredible career in the media, Terry received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2021. Alongside his successful TV career, he is also a philanthropist working with many non-profit organisations, which earned him the UN Global Generation Award. As a public advocate for women’s rights and an activist against sexism, Terry was recognised in 2017 among the “silence breakers” for TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year.
